Horse Trailers From Trails West Horse Trailers. Horse Trailer Living Quarters Completely Built From Scratch.
Trails West trailers are known for their trademark aerodynamic design and their unprecedented quality. The secret to long life is expertise and determination. Our Horse Trailers are engineered and manufactured to provide the best in quality, durability and reliability. Since 1987, Trails West has constructed the most superior steel trailer in the industry. Here are some independent quotes posted by Trail's West Trailer owners:
"I absolutely LOVE my Trails West Trailer!!!!! Can't say enough great things about the trailer, dealer & manufacturer! I bought a 2006 2h GN and tow it with my new Tundra! They made it to my specs and at a fraction of the cost a Sundowner would have cost, plus I wouldn't be able to tow a GN Sundowner with a 1/2 ton truck. The Sundowner dealer here in Northern Ca. looked for a long time to find another trailer to represent with great quality and affordabilty. Great trailers!"

"I got a 6 horse gn Trails West Trailer, was loaded and its now like 12 years old and still looks fairly new. Hauls great and lots of room for the horses. extra wide and high."

"I have the Avenger by Trails West. 2 horse slant bumper pull. It's a 2000. I believe the Avenger is the older version of the Adventure. I absolutely loveeeeee it. It hauls so nice. My huge Paint mare fits well in the slant. This is crazy to me because we tried to put her in my friend's big 3 horse slant and there was no way we could get her to fit, she's so wide. All my horses load into it real nice too. I really really like it."

"I absolutely adore my Trails West trailer. Mine is a Sierra II model, so a little more higher end than the Adventure model. I know a TON of people with Trails West trailers. Infact almost all of my close friends trailers are Trails West brand. We all love them, they haul great, have great horse trailers living quarters come with nice features, and look nice."

"I know nothing about the Thuro-Bilt trailers, but will say I'm extremely happy with my Trails West, made in Idaho. It's heavy, which doesn't bother me, but is really well built and finished nicely with no rough edges anywhere, stall dividers that close easily and stay closed, etc. They will build to suit, or have models to choose from. The one I have is extra wide and extra tall so I have plenty of room for mares with foals, and young horses not used to being trailered. Mine is three stalls with a good size tack room, but there's a lot to choose from. I don't know how they compare in price. If you haven't looked at one, they might be worth checking out. I sure did a lot of horses trailer for sale shopping before buying. It's a difficult decision."

Trails West horse trailers are constructed using high quality electro-galvanized steel. Electro-galvanized steel is renowned for being far superior to aluminum in overall structural integrity. All metals have two significant stress limits: Yield Strength and Ultimate Strength. When metal is stressed at a level below the Yield Strength, it will always return to its original shape after the stressor is released. If the metal is stressed above its Yield Strength but below its Ultimate Strength, it will bend or become deformed without breaking. When stress levels exceed a metal's Ultimate Strength, the metal will ultimately, break.
When metals are repeatedly stressed or flexed, even at levels well below their yield limits, they often fail. This is known as fatigue failure. Ferrous metals such as steel possess another stress limit known as Fatigue Strength. When the stresses from repeated flexing are kept below the fatigue strength level, steel will not fail regardless of the number of times the steel is flexed. Non-ferrous metals such as aluminum do not have fatigue strength: therefore, when aluminum is repeatedly flexed and stressed even at very low limits, it will eventually break. This is why aluminum trailers are reinforced with steel in critical areas, such as axle hangers, rear corners where gates hang, and hitch attachment points.
Properly engineered steel horse trailers are much stronger and more durable to the flex and stress caused by the road. Trails West uses properly prepared Electro-galvanized sheet steel with Dupont® automotive primer and polyurethane paint, to produce a high quality, structurally superior horse trailer. Costing far less than aluminum trailers in their class, while providing both structural superiority and a wider range of options, helps to distinguish the Trails West horse trailer as a cut above the rest.
A common misconception is that aluminum horse trailers weigh 40 to 50 percent less than steel trailers. A Trails West horse trailer is engineered to use both heavy and lightweight steel as dictated by the stress loads within the trailer. We also utilize both heavy and light woods in the horse and tack floor areas as best practices would dictate. Trails West horse trailers are triple-wall constructed, protecting the outside skin from damaging horse kicks while maintaining the exterior's smooth, sleek appearance. A triple-wall constructed Trails West horse trailer typically weigh only 10 to 15 percent more than a comparably equipped aluminum trailer.
Trails West high-end steel horse trailers typically hold their value better than aluminum trailers. A Trails West horse trailer will depreciate on average of 5.5% per year, with most of the depreciation being experienced during the first two years of the trailer's life.
Superior strength, greater paint durability, excellent towability, and a wide variety of options, such as Galvanized Rear Gate Hinges, Four Wheel Electric Brakes and 45"/55" Cargo Doors, make Trails West steel horse trailers among the best value in the industry today. If lower cost and higher resale value, relative to aluminum trailers, is important to you, Trails West trailers has the right solution for you.
Horse Trailer News: My Daughter Has Been Hooking Up This Horse Trailer Since She Was 12 Years Old.
We recently encountered Kevan Husky, a hunter/equitation trainer at Jigsaw Farms in Santa Monica, California who has owned not one, but two, Trails West Horse Trailers. Kevan was kind enough to show us around her rig and tell us just what it was that makes her such a Trails West Horse Trailer, fan. Check it out!
